The Connected City
Arc 451 | Urban Design
The Connected City was an urban design competition to connect Downtown Dallas and the Trinity River. The design of the project was approached by expanding Downtown into the site by pulling the existing horizontal & vertical streets into the site creating a new street grid. Also applied was a plane for each traffic type which created a fabric between the city and river. Nodes are then developed to connect the districts and to engage the public. An important part of the project was the pedestrian path way. The path way is an elevated path over the existing Riverfront BLVD. The height of the path is the same height as downtown and the levee creating again an urban fabric. This enables several different paths to help connect the site, downtown, & the Trinity River
